Antique Collector’s Choice: Swedish Herbarium
Herbariums are wonderful items that make classic collectors' items. In our wide selection of Swedish Antiques, we have a collection of 20th century pressed and dried plants and flowers from Sweden. In this set, each pressed botanical specimen has a hand written label at the bottom with details including the plants name, variety, and date written. This set from the 1950s was most likely compiled for a school project over the course of a couple of years. The set can be sold separately or as a collection, and will make a beautiful and charming collector’s item adorning any wall.

As well as this interesting collection of Swedish flora, we also have a wonderful mix of Swedish antique furniture including some classic Gustavian pieces. This furniture style is a product of the late 1700s during the reign of King Gustav of Sweden 1771 - 1792. This 18th century original painted Swedish Gustavian commode is a wonderful example from this period. The drawers are fully functional and with a little bit of restoration it will shine in all of its former glory.

The Swedish furniture style drew inspiration from French designs, gradually evolving into the distinctive Gustavian style, with pieces often showcasing strong neo classical influences. We have some interesting pieces of Swedish antique furniture in store with us at the moment, as well as some fantastic bespoke pieces that draw inspiration from the Swedish classics. Visit us in store to browse our collection in person and get a real feel for these excellent pieces.
